Trekking in Ladakh Frozen River Trek/Chadar Trek
Trekking on Frozen river of Zanskar is a life time experience for adventure lover. The traditional name of the trek is give by scholars , Buddhist Monks and traders"Chadar trek" the frozen thick sheet, which was only way in and out for Zanskaris in winter when all other ways are closed due to heavy snow fall at high passes. Therefore, it had been trade route for centuries for Zanskari People. Now the route is also famous as winter trekking among adventure lovers. For last several years, we have been organizing this winter trek in three different options with trained local Zanskari potters and our well-experienced guide and staff.
Day 01: Delh- Leh A day for acclimatization.
Morning on time transfer to domestic airport for your flight to Leh, upon arrival reception and transfer to hotel. Overnight in hotel.
Day 02: Leh.
Morning guided tour to Shey, Thiksey and Hemis monastery on the way Sindhu Darshan (Indus River). The one of the holiest river of India. INDIA derives its name
from the word Indus or Sindhu as the river is called in Sanskrit. Return Leh O/N hotel Leh
Shey Gompa is about 15 kms from Leh. It used to be the summer palace of the kings of Ladakh. There are lots of Stupas and Gompas built around the palace. Shey palace was built by Deldan Namgyal in the beginning of 17Th century AD. Main attraction in Shey is the 12m Shakyamuni Buddha statue inside the Dresthang Gompa.
Thiksey Gompa, close to Shey is about 17 kms from Leh. The monastery is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Ladakh and belongs to the Gelukspa order.
Hemis, about 45 kms south of Leh it is one of the most famous and largest monastery in Ladakh. It belongs to the Drukpa order and was founded in the early 17Th century. The setting is perfect with the monastery cradled in a lovely valley, surrounded by streams and fronted by long Mani walls. Overnight stay at the guest house.
Day 03: Leh - Chilling (5 hrs drive)
Morning after early breakfast drive to Chilling along with your trekking team from Pishu village of Zanskar, visit coppersmith workshops. Dinner and overnight stay at guest house.
Day 04: Chilling - Zaribago
Morning we sett off for your first day of our trek Chadar on the frozen Zanskar river from Chilling to Zaribago. The trek is of about 5-6 hours. Overnight at Camp.
Day 05: Zaribago - Deepyokma
Morning start after breakfast a careful walk on the frozen Zanskar River, the walking distance 4-5 hours arrive Deepyokma for camp and overnight.
Day 06: Deepyokma - Nyarakpulu
As usual start trek, walk for 4 to 5 hours from Deepyokma to reach Nyarakpulu below the Nyarak village. Arrive Nyrakpulu for camp and overnight.
Day 07: Nyarakpulu - Lingshed
Morning start a short walk on Frozen River (Chadar) departing Nyarakpulu a one and an half hour walk will bring us to small but beautiful village Lingshed. Upon arrival we will be received by the local villagers overnight in warm and soothe local house.
Day 08: Lingshed
A complete rest day to explore monasteries, village life and attend Puja ceremony and cup of GUR GUR CHAI (Tibetan Butter Tea) with Monks. Overnight in local house.
Day 09: Lingshed - Nyarakpulu
Return to Nyarakpulu - a walk of about 5-6 hours to the campsite.
Day 10: Nyarakpulu - Tso Mopoaldar
Trek 4-5 hours for your campsite Tso Mopoaldar for overnight.
Day 11: Tso Mopoaldar - Tilatdo
Trek 4-5 hours for your campsite Tilatdo for overnight.
Day 12: Tilatdo - Chilling - Leh
Morning start walking carefully to Chilling village and meet your transporter for your further journey to Leh. Check in hotel for Overnight.
Day 13: Leh - Delhi
On time (Early morning) transfer to airport for your flight to Delhi.
